Re: Replacement Membranes for Creativision controllers
Getting there. Just need to cleanup all the silkscreen mess...
Already redone the other PCBs. No chance it'll be done this week I'm afraid. I need to buy some of the components and give them test fittings...

Re: Replacement Membranes for Creativision controllers
Just an update of where I have got to.
I've now finished my revision of the controller. It's only the Left controller at this point. If it all works, I'll also do a Right controller.
I've made the following changes:
EDIT: Ready to order!
Cheers!

I've now finished my revision of the controller. It's only the Left controller at this point. If it all works, I'll also do a Right controller.
I've made the following changes:
- Contacts for joystick rotated clockwise so they work as expected
- Solder point for the "disk" contact moved to the edge of the disk for better clearance
- Connection for fire buttons moved from keyboard PCB to joystick PCB. Should make routing easier
- Fire button PCB made larger for better fit. I plan to combine two fire buttons on a single PCB to make things cheaper. I might even merge with the keyboard to drop the costs even more. EDIT: Done! We're down from 4 PCBs to 2 now.
- Connection points for the connection between the joystick and the keyboard PCBs split into two, and shrunk from 2.54mm pitch to 1.27mm pitch. This makes connecting with ribbon cable much easier. I still need to align the connectors between the joystick PCB and the keyboard PCB. EDIT: I checked and they're aligned almost perfectly.
- Moved everything on the keyboard PCB to the top of the board.
- Fitted all components on the keyboard PCB except the connection points to fit inside the "visible area".
- Added silkscreen annotations for all buttons. These came out quite nicely.
- Moved to larger diodes and buttons. I still need to verify the buttons work as promised by the technical schematics. They don't look quite right so I want to complete this before ordering PCBs. EDIT: Actually they're correct! I got the buttons and checked them myself.
EDIT: Ready to order!
Cheers!

So I've rejiggered it so there are Left Hand and Right Hand PCBs.
I'll get these ordered up next pay cycle, so in just over a week
John
The fire buttons are also "break off" components.I'll get these ordered up next pay cycle, so in just over a week

Hmm. Looks like my last post got lost.
I may be "showing off" here a little, but I merged the top and bottom boards of the joysticks onto one PCB and then doubled them!
You can now get both controllers out of 3 PCBs.
Bring on payday and I'll order these. John

Re: Replacement Membranes for Creativision controllers
Excellent. Will you be updating your Github page with the new PCB and gerbers etc?
