Case for the Megacart
Hey all,
There's been some demand for a case for the MegaCart, so I fired up OpenSCAD and gave it a go.
This case is, as yet, untested. I do have a 3D Printer now, but it's going to take 2 DAYS to print these and I figured some of you might want to start playing around with it now. Y'know. Kick the tyres. That kind of thing.
https://github.com/cheshirenoir/CreatiV ... gaCartCase
Is it perfect? No! Will it even work? Who knows? I won't get a chance to print it until Thursday I suspect. I'd suggest hanging off until then as there's likely to be a 1.1 shortly after I finish with some tweaks

Re: Case for the Megacart
Hi,
wow! looks good!
i did a quick and rough 3d Print...
i found two little bugs ;0)
first i had to remove some excess material in the marked areas from the bottom part (see pic) and i found the case is wider than a normal cartridge and does barely (or not at all, depending on the force i used :0)) fit into the cart-slot...
sadly my Mega-cart PCBs are still traveling the globe... so i can not confirm if they fit...
Cheers, TOM:0)

Re: Case for the Megacart
Thanks for that!
I'll load up the design and have another look shortly.
I know exactly what I did wrong in the lower bit there now you pointed it out
As for the scaling, I'll have another look. No idea what went wrong there

Re: Case for the Megacart
It looks good! Just a little adjustment to the width and should go great
How about the height?

Re: Case for the Megacart
What's really odd is I just doublechecked my measurements against a Crazy Chicky cartridge and they're exactly right!. I wonder if it's an artifact of your printer? I've optimised for a Resin printer, so no "shrinkage".
I'll parameterise width so that way you'll be able to adjust the width with a single parameter
Give me a day or two. It's pretty badly "hand coded" currently

Hi,
maybe my printer is badly off calibration... i will check the axis...
I think there is no need for you to add the adjustable parameter if it is my printer :0)

Re: Case for the Megacart
I've uploaded a version with the base part corrected for the overlap.
@Scouter3D, if you can measure how wide your cartridge came out, I can work out the scaling factor.

Hi,
i just found the bug ;0)
the sides of the case need to be tapered to fit the Creativision slot...
cheers, TOM:0)

Re: Case for the Megacart
Well caught and you are quite correct!
OK I'll drop them overall to 63. Won't be as realistic, but I am sure we'll all live
